antique witches wand

early masonic staff top

this extremely rare and interesting early piece of metalwork is forged from wrought iron. adorned with various symbols including a pentangle, the figure 999, twin pillars and what appears to be the square and compasses. the piece was discovered in the west country and has resided in a private collection ever since. it was offered to me as a witches wand,  the presence, however of a tang would suggest that it originally had a pole attached ,after extensive research  it would appear that this is indeed a masonic piece.
